Clodagh & Alex’s Marlfield House Wedding | Gorey, Co. Wexford
Marlfield House — A Wexford Wedding Venue Worth Knowing
If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when two people are absolutely, unashamedly delighted to be getting married — Clodagh and Alex’s wedding at Marlfield House is your answer. From the moment the morning kicked off on-site, right through to the last light of the evening, these two were having the time of their lives. And honestly, it was infectious.
Marlfield House sits just outside Gorey in Co. Wexford, and if you haven’t been, put it on your list. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a different era — all sweeping grounds, manicured gardens, and an elegance that somehow never feels stuffy. It’s one of those venues that does a lot of the heavy lifting for a photographer, and I’m not complaining.
Getting Ready at Marlfield House
Clodagh got ready on-site at Marlfield, which is always one of my favourite setups. There’s no rushing, no convoy of cars, no one checking their watch every five minutes. Everyone stays in the same building, the morning moves at its own pace, and you actually get to enjoy it. The light in the rooms at Marlfield is beautiful, and the getting-ready shots reflect that — calm, unhurried, and full of genuine excitement rather than wedding-morning nerves.
An Outdoor Civil Ceremony in the Gardens
The ceremony was held outdoors in the gardens at Marlfield House — a civil ceremony, simple and personal, which suited Clodagh and Alex down to the ground. There’s something about a garden ceremony that strips everything back to what actually matters. No grand architecture to fill, no echo to compete with — just the two of them, the people they love most, and Wexford doing its best impression of a Mediterranean afternoon.
The gardens at Marlfield provided a stunning natural backdrop, and the light was kind to us. If you’re considering an outdoor ceremony at Marlfield House, do it. It photographs beautifully and it’s the kind of setting that guests talk about for years.
Clodagh & Alex — A Couple Worth Photographing
I’ll be honest: fun couples make better photographs. It’s just true. When a couple is genuinely relaxed, laughing, and not taking themselves too seriously, it shows in every single frame. Clodagh and Alex are exactly that kind of couple. They were easy to be around, up for everything, and the kind of people where you look at the back of your camera and think — yes, that’s exactly it.
Marlfield House
As a wedding photographer based in Kildare covering weddings across Wexford, Wicklow, and beyond, Marlfield House is a venue I’m always delighted to shoot at. The grounds give you options at every turn — formal gardens, mature trees, the house itself as a backdrop — and the whole property has a warmth to it that makes couples feel at ease almost immediately.
If you’re planning a wedding at Marlfield House and looking for a photographer, I’d love to hear from you.
