Martinstown House Wedding Photographer | Mark Donovan
If you've landed on this page, there's a good chance you've already fallen down the Martinstown House rabbit hole. You've watched the venue reel on Instagram at least four times, shown your partner "just one more photo" of the walled garden, and quietly started to wonder if every other venue you've visited is just a little bit… beige by comparison. You're not wrong. Martinstown House in Co. Kildare is genuinely one of the most special wedding venues in Ireland, and I say that as someone who has photographed weddings at a lot of venues. Magdalena and Ronan found it. They booked it. And they absolutely made the right call.
A Wedding Venue Unlike Any Other in Kildare
Let me paint you a picture. You walk down a laurel-lined path through the trees and arrive at a Victorian glasshouse that was literally rescued from the woods, restored with old telegraph poles and tin from a neighbour's field, and finished off with a crystal chandelier hanging from the centre. That's The Woodlands ceremony space at Martinstown House — and yes, it's as magical as it sounds. After the ceremony, guests spill onto the front lawn for drinks, then move into the walled garden where a draped marquee with cathedral ceilings waits for the evening. Oh, and there's Bessie the Tea Caravan, which has been known to moonlight as a gin bar. Honestly, what's not to love. Martinstown House is about an hour from Dublin in The Curragh, Co. Kildare, and worth every minute of the drive.
Magdalena & Ronan's Wedding Day at Martinstown House
Magdalena got ready in the house itself, upstairs in one of those beautiful rooms where the light comes through the sash windows and makes everything look like a painting — which makes my job considerably easier and I appreciate it enormously. Ronan and the lads were, as grooms tend to be, considerably more relaxed about the whole thing. The ceremony in The Woodlands was intimate and completely their own. Then came golden-hour portraits among the cherry trees in the walled garden, speeches on the front lawn that had people laughing and crying in equal measure, and a dance floor that didn't get a moment's rest until well into the night. A perfect Kildare wedding day, documented as honestly as I know how.
